Stock quantities can be updated through multiple methods in Telesto, with the Stock Updater providing the most comprehensive features for inventory management.

Methods for Updating Stock

Telesto provides four ways to update stock quantities:

  • Stock Updater: Full-featured tool with advanced options
  • Quick Transactions: Simple updates from product profiles
  • Sales Orders: Automatic deduction when marked as delivered
  • Purchase Orders: Automatic addition when marked as completed
Using the Stock Updater

The Stock Updater is the primary tool for inventory management, supporting advanced features like batch tracking, serial numbers, and detailed transaction records.

Complete Stock Update Process:
  1. Choose Transaction Type: Select IN (receiving) or OUT (shipping)
  2. Enter Quantity: Specify the number of units
  3. Select Product: Choose the item using search, filters, or barcode scanning
  4. Select Warehouse: Choose the storage location
  5. Add Notes (Optional): Include transaction details for reporting

The "Update Stock" option (if enabled in settings) deletes past transactions and resets stock levels. Use only when transaction history is not important.

Finding Products Efficiently

The Stock Updater offers multiple ways to locate products quickly:

  • Search by name: Type product names for instant results
  • Scan barcodes: Use device camera or external barcode scanner
  • Filter options: Sort by category, warehouse, or supplier
  • UPC/EAN lookup: Enter product codes directly
Warehouse Selection

Location availability depends on transaction type:

  • IN transactions: All warehouses/locations are available
  • OUT transactions: Only locations with existing stock are shown
Transaction Notes

Add notes to transactions for better record-keeping:

  • Reference numbers from suppliers or customers
  • Reason codes for adjustments
  • Quality control observations
  • Special handling instructions

Transaction notes appear in reports and provide valuable context for inventory movements and audit purposes.

Purchase Price Editing

If enabled in settings, you can update purchase prices during stock IN transactions. This helps maintain accurate cost tracking for inventory valuation.

When to Update Purchase Price:
  • Receiving inventory at a different cost than expected
  • Supplier price changes that affect current shipments
  • Currency fluctuations impacting international purchases
Advanced Features
Batch Tracking

For perishable goods, the Stock Updater supports batch tracking with expiration dates. This feature must be enabled in settings and configured per product.

Serial Number Tracking

Track individual items by serial number for warranty management and accountability. Serial numbers are managed during IN/OUT transactions when enabled for specific products.

For detailed information about batch and lot tracking features, refer to the "Batch and Lot Tracking" article in the Advanced Features section.
