Storage positions let you define physical spots within a warehouse, such as aisles, shelves, racks, or bins. When you assign a position to a product, your team knows exactly where to find it.

Example: Your main warehouse has three aisles. You create positions like "Aisle 1 - Shelf A", "Aisle 2 - Shelf B", and "Bin 3C". When someone stocks 200 nails, they assign them to "Aisle 2 - Shelf B". The next person picking that order knows exactly where to go.
What Are Storage Positions?

Storage positions are labels you create inside a warehouse to describe where items are physically stored. They are tied to a specific warehouse and can be assigned to products when adding stock or updating inventory.

Positions appear in the stock distribution table on each product's profile, next to the warehouse name, so anyone viewing the product can see its physical location at a glance.

Storage positions are organizational labels. Each product can have one position per warehouse. If you need to store the same product in two different spots within the same warehouse, the position will reflect the most recently assigned one.

Creating Storage Positions

Positions are created inside a warehouse. You need to save the warehouse first, then edit it to add positions.

Step 1: Create or Open a Warehouse
  1. Go to Warehouses
  2. If you need a new warehouse, tap + to create one and save it
  3. Tap Edit on the warehouse where you want to add positions

To add storage positions, save the location first, then edit it.

Step 2: Add Positions
  1. Scroll down to the Storage Positions section
  2. Type a name for the position (e.g. "Aisle 3, Shelf B")
  3. Tap the + button to add it
  4. Repeat for as many positions as you need

You can delete a position at any time by tapping the delete icon next to it.

Deleting a position removes the label from any products currently assigned to it. The stock itself is not affected.

Assigning Positions to Products

There are three places where you can assign a storage position to a product:

When Adding a New Product
  1. Go to Products → Add Product
  2. In the stock distribution section, select a warehouse
  3. If that warehouse has positions, a Storage Position dropdown appears automatically
  4. Select the position and enter the quantity
  5. Save the product
When Updating Stock (Stock Updater)
  1. Open the Stock Updater
  2. Select a product and choose IN, OUT, or STOCK
  3. Select a warehouse
  4. If that warehouse has positions, the Storage Position dropdown appears
  5. Select a position (or leave it blank) and process the transaction
When Transferring Stock Between Warehouses
  1. Open the Stock Updater and go to the Move tab
  2. Select a product
  3. Choose the From warehouse (a position dropdown appears if applicable)
  4. Choose the To warehouse (a position dropdown appears if applicable)
  5. Enter the quantity and tap Move

The position selector only appears when the selected warehouse has positions configured. If a warehouse has no positions, the field stays hidden and everything works as before.

Viewing Storage Positions

Once assigned, positions are visible in the stock distribution table on the product edit screen. They appear as a subtle label next to the warehouse name:

Warehouse A › Aisle 2 - Shelf B    200
Warehouse B    50
Warehouse C › Bin 3C    75

This gives your team a quick reference to find any product without leaving the product page.

Browsing Products by Storage Position

When you open the Warehouses module, each warehouse lists its storage positions along with the total stock at each one. Tap any storage position to jump directly to the products list, filtered to show only the items assigned to that position.

This is a quick way to check what's stored at a specific spot without searching through the full product list.

Good to Know
  • One position per product per warehouse. A product can be assigned to "Shelf A" in Warehouse 1 and "Bin 5" in Warehouse 2, but it can only have one position within each warehouse.
  • Positions are optional. You can add stock to a warehouse without selecting a position. The position field is never required.
  • Changing a position overwrites the previous one. If a product is at "Shelf A" and you update stock with "Shelf B" selected, the position changes to "Shelf B".
  • Positions are per warehouse. Each warehouse has its own set of positions. A position named "Shelf A" in Warehouse 1 is independent from one named "Shelf A" in Warehouse 2.
  • Deleting a position doesn't affect stock quantities. The product keeps its stock at that warehouse; only the position label is removed.

Storage positions work across all platforms: iOS, Android, and desktop. Your team can assign and view positions from any device.
